Arthur Melo earns Liverpool praise as Reds eye Samuel Chukwueze transfer

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have won back-to-back games for the first time in almost two months and are aiming for a third successive win away to West Ham.
Liverpool can move closer to the Champions League on Wednesday with a win over West Ham.
The Reds secured a second successive victory by beating Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller at Anfield, but will be looking to get three more points when they travel to the London Stadium next time out.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently seventh, nine points behind fourth-placed Manchester United and can close the gap with a win over West Ham before United make the journey to Tottenham.
It looks set to be an entertaining season finale, especially in the top four race, as several teams battle to finish in the European spots, with Brighton and Newcastle also firmly in the mix.
So, with that in mind, here’s the latest news out of Liverpool. Arthur praised by England manager
Arthur is praised by his English teacher after the progress he has made during his time at Liverpool.
The Brazilian joined the Reds from Juventus last summer and has since learned the new language as he integrates into the country. Arthur was taught by language teacher Sara Duque, who previously helped teach at Tottenham’s Richarlison.
Sharing Arthur’s progress with his 196,000 Instagram followers, Duque said: “I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible progress my student @Arthurhmelo has made in the last 3 months. When we started he spoke no English at all and it’s amazing to see how far he has come in such a short time due to his dedication and hard work. “We have raised the bar for ourselves and Arthur has risen to the challenge with admirable determination. Obviously there is still a long way to go, but we are ambitious and committed to continuing our work to achieve our goals.”
“Arthur’s progress is a testament to the power of effort and perseverance, and I’m honored to be a part of his linguistic journey. Congratulations Arthur, you are a true inspiration to many footballers.”
Liverpool eye Chukwueze
Liverpool are looking to transfer Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp could be set for a reshuffle in his Reds squad at the end of the season – and a right winger could very well be on his agenda to back up Mohamed Salah. Citing reports in Spain, the Liverpool Echo say the Reds are looking to rival Real Madrid over the signing of Chukwueze this summer. The Nigerian ace has scored 13 times in 41 appearances this season.
Chukwueze, 23, has many admirers and Liverpool may have to fight to sign him. Alberto Moreno is a big fan of the winger and has admitted that he reminds him of Sadio Manè.
“He’s super bold, fast; you never know where he’s going,” Moreno told Marca. “He’s also strong, young and defined. He looks a lot like Sadio Mane. I’ve seen the two in training and they are very similar.
“He still has a lot to learn because he is very young, but he will become an even better player than he is [now]”.
Samuel Chukwueze has been linked with a move to Liverpool (
Antonio’s warning to Liverpool
Mikhail Antonio believes West Ham are confident and “lively” ahead of their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Hammers recorded a 4-0 win over Bournemouth this weekend thanks to goals from Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice and Pablo Fornals. It was a result that took them six points clear of the bottom three and Antonio is impressed with West Ham’s recent performance as they prepare to face Liverpool at the London Stadium.
He said: “It’s clicked overall and has been since the start of the year. We weren’t the top in the standings before. It’s been a long and tough season so it’s calmed the guys down.”
“It distracts us from the crowd and gives a cushion to relegation contenders. It’s a good turnaround for the week and we are keeping the momentum going as we are clearly looking to win the cup now.
“This final month of the season with the semi-finals could be incredible, I think another win will secure the Premier League for next year. We are buzzing.”
Declan Rice added: ” The benchmark is 40 points, so it’s important that we don’t get too comfortable. Then there’s Liverpool and we enjoy evenings like that.”

Liverpool will be looking for a third straight win when they travel to the London Stadium later tonight to take on West Ham United.

From possible starters, I think that’s it,” the Reds boss said at his press conference on Tuesday.
Naby Keita is closer to returning to the pitch, even if he is not yet ready to be fully considered, while Roberto Firmino is out due to a muscle problem suffered last week.
“Hopefully, I think he can train partly today [Tuesday]. That’s what I heard yesterday,” Klopp explained to Keita. He wasn’t in team training yet, but he could do a warm-up if we do rondos , he can do it and then he has to redo his program. So that means, yeah, [he’s] much closer, much, much closer.
On Firmino, the Liverpool boss added: “We are still thinking that… this week, no, I hope that at the end of the week he is closer, but so far he was not in team training, so that’s it.”
