Arsenal is eyeing Sergej Millinkovic-Savic amid Manchester United Interest

Arsenal needs to bolster its midfield in the upcoming transfer window. Mikel Arteta’s options are limited due to a lack of quality depth despite a solid starting pivot in the middle of the park.
The primary aim to strengthen the Arsenal midfield was believed to be Youri Tielemans. However, rumors suggest that concerns have surfaced regarding the signing of the Belgian.
It is essential that a replacement be acquired if Edu decides not to sign Tielemans. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic may be an option for the Gunners, but they’ll have to outbid Manchester United for his services.
Since the conclusion of the previous season, Tielemans has been associated with the team, and according to CBS Sports, the Gunners are the front-runners to sign him. The Belgian player may be available for as little as £25 million, and Arsenal is said to already be aware that he won’t sign a new contract.
Edu had been hesitant to pay the price despite being aware of it, according to TalkSport, since there were concerns about the Belgian’s physicality. During the previous season, Tielemans had multiple defensive breakdowns.
If news sources are to be believed, Milinkovic-Savic might be the best choice. It’s also what the Arsenal recruitment staff is thinking since Lazio reportedly wants to transfer the 27-year-old to either Arsenal or United for about €55-60 million (£46-50 million), according to a report from the Italian newspaper Il Mattino.
Sport Witness earlier revealed that the Gunners were prepared to step up their efforts to sign the midfielder, according to Italian site Tutto Juve. According to the source, Arsenal is prepared to pay £42 million for his services.
In the middle of the field last season, Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka’s injuries made the Gunners appear flimsy at times. They already added playmaker Vieira to their roster this summer, and acquiring Milinkovic-Savic would give Swiss international Xhaka some much-needed competition.
He would be a great alternative to have on the left side for the future, however, if the Spaniard decides to play three players in the middle of midfield. A trade will be more difficult to complete because of Manchester United’s increased interest, but Arteta has a great opportunity to extract revenge on Arsenal’s rival after they signed Lisandro Martinez at the expense of the Manchester team.
