You never want to get hurt as a young player. Particularly not during preseason, when you are in the zone and poised to make a breakthrough.
Unfortunately, Mateusz Musiaowski had to deal with the reality last season when Jürgen Klopp left on his first summer European tour.
He had just completed a standout first season at the club’s academy, during which he even drew comparisons to Lionel Messi due to his low center of gravity and slaloming runs to avoid dense defending formations. Overall, his promotion to the first team was richly merited. Musiaowski, however, was unable to take advantage of the chance since he sustained an injury that forced him to leave the training camp.
Even while minor irritations like that frequently disrupted his flow throughout the course of last season, he still achieved double digit goals from 26 games, and there were instances when he displayed his sparkling best.
He has been seen practicing with the club’s first team group once more this summer, and should he participate in any of Klopp’s international camps, the young player may have another chance to make up for last year’s missed opportunity.
