Fulham forward has disclosed the background of his conversation with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola following their 3-2 loss to the Premier League champions.
City finished their most recent run of games with a win in the Premier League, following draws against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium and Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
However, the match against Fulham was far from easy, and after falling behind 0-1 in the first half thanks to an Andreas Pereira goal, a Mateo Kovacic brace and a stunning strike from Jeremy Doku would eventually be enough to seal the victory.
Adama Traore would undoubtedly have had numerous opportunities to score for the visitors, and if it hadn’t been for Ederson’s outstanding goalkeeping and the Spaniard’s terrible finishing, Manchester City would not have received anything at all.
Traore was interviewed by El Larguero this week, as translated and recounted by The Mirror, on his post-match on-field exchange with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following the hosts’ 3-2 triumph at the Etihad Stadium.
“I’ve known him for a while, but it’s always appreciated. “He is the best coach in the world, without a doubt,” Traore stated.
“After the game he came up to me to tell it was a good game, he gave me some pointers on how to finish the chances I had against them,” according to him.
“I met him in Barcelona. When I got at Aston Villa, I called him, and he has always been nice.”
Guardiola himself was quite complimentary of Adama Traore while speaking to the media following the game, fully aware of the potential damage that a single player could have done to the scoreboard, causing a slew of issues for his defence.
“Adama was unstoppable,” Guardiola told journalists. “We lost control when he had the ball. “You must defend in your 18-yard box.”
“I’ve known him since the Barcelona academy,” he added. “This is an incredible threat! When he grabs the ball, forget about it! Look at the run of our fastest player, Kyle [Walker], who beat him. Unstoppable in large spaces and extremely tough to manage. “He’s a lovely guy.”
