Breaking: Green Bay Packers Stun Fans by Releasing Injured Player After Week 5.

The Green Bay Packers improved to 3-2 after defeating the Los Angeles Rams 24-19 in Inglewood last Sunday. During that game, the Packers’ defensive back Robert Rochell had a stinger injury. Although he did not receive an injury designation on Monday, the Packers elected to dismiss him.
The Green Bay Packers have released cornerback Robert Rochell (roh-SHELL). General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction on Monday.

Rochell was on the Packers’ practice squad all season before being added to the active roster on Saturday. This season, he has played in three games for Green Bay, two of which were as a gameday elevation.

The 26-year-old Rochell has appeared in three Packers games during the 2024 NFL season, but has only 34 snaps on the field, all on special teams.

The Green Bay Packers could get Robert Rochell again

There appears to be a high probability that the Packers will sign him to the practice squad again. He is still eligible for one more promotion off the practice squad. If he is called up a fourth time, he must be signed to a regular roster under NFL regulations.

Rochell made his NFL debut in 2021, when the Rams selected him in the fourth round of the draft. After two seasons in Los Angeles, Rochell spent time on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers before signing a one-year contract with the Packers for $1.055 million last March, according to Spotrac.

Rochell has four passes defended and one interception in his 40-game NFL career.
