Green Bay Packers supporters have received terrible news about their former great quarterback, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Famer, Brett Favre. Favre, along with Aaron Rodgers, is one of the most legendary Packers players since Bart Starr, and he has long been a popular figure among Green Bay and NFL fans.
While his off-field reputation may have been complicated for some outside Wisconsin, Favre is still revered by Packers fans (myself included), and his on-field greatness is obvious.
Tragically, Favre received a tragic medical diagnosis earlier Tuesday, with Adam Schefter claiming that the three-time NFL MVP has Parkinson’s disease.
In a testimony to Congress about the Mississippi State controversy, Brett Favre addressed the claims of misappropriated cash, revealing that he had been duped by a business claiming to produce innovative medical treatments. He stated:
“Unfortunately, I also lost an investment in a firm that I felt was developing a breakthrough concussion medication that could help others.
I’m sure you’ll understand that, while it’s too late for me, as I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, this cause is still very personal to me. The doctor who runs the company recently admitted to utilising the money for personal gain.”
How Did Fans React To This Sad Favre News?
Much of the media and online communities responded immediately with love and sympathy, as many were devastated by the news, particularly for someone as young as 54 years old. However, some supporters were less sympathetic to the former Super Bowl champion, highlighting his contentious record on a variety of subjects.

One supporter brought up what may be interpreted as a bigger issue in football. While this may be an exaggeration, new knowledge on concussions and player safety has profoundly altered the game. Today’s football is very different from the one Brett Favre played over two decades ago, with stiffer “roughing the passer” penalties and the elimination of head-to-head contact on tackles.

Nonetheless, it is a sad day for both the football world and Favre personally. Hopefully, he will make the best use of his time and enjoy life to the fullest extent possible.
