Rangers’ ‘difficult time’ must be exploited as Lyall Cameron and Dundee look to spoil Ibrox return party

Rangers are back on home turf but the midfielder is looking for the Dark Blues to go there, frustrate and to try to book their place in the Hampden semi-finals.

The Scotland Under-21 cap knows Rangers are going through a difficult time and that’s something he feels Dundee can exploit. Cameron said: “You need to play on that sort of thing. They aren’t having their best spell right now.

“Back at Ibrox their fans will want to see a reaction and see their team batter us, to be honest. But if we can frustrate them as much as we can, slow the game down, then the fans can get on them. That gives us an advantage. But, at the end of the day, it is the quarter-final of a cup and it’s a big goal for this club to get to Hampden.”

Dundee finished in the top six last season and have made great improvement. A victory over Rangers or Celtic has been the only thing lacking. Before losing 5-2 in April, they had drawn at home against the Light Blues and had led 2-0 during their previous visit to Ibrox.

We play with the idea that you put the past behind you and move on after a loss, according to Cameron. We are aware that it won’t be simple because Rangers have a lot to prove to their supporters, and we will face stiff opposition.

However, we demonstrated our ability to hurt the Rangers a few times throughout the previous season. We lost that one, but fortunately we had a 2-0 lead.

“Get to a similar situation then hopefully handle it better, see the game out and it’s a cup game so the pressure is on – there’s no playing for draws, we need to try to win the game.

“Hopefully we have a go at them and show what we can do. We’ve shown we can compete against Rangers.”

This competition’s same stage marked the 21-year-old’s Ibrox debut two years prior. Rangers won thanks to a goal from Steven Davis, and the aggressive midfielder is now hoping Dundee scores.

“That was my first time playing at Ibrox,” Cameron declared. Since we were in the Championship that season, it was actually our first experience in a large stadium. It’s the same scenario as when we drew Rangers away in the quarterfinal. For that one, I was anxious, but I overcame it.

We gave up early, which is obviously something you never want to do in a match like that. However, we managed to maintain the lead and stay in the game. At these locations, you should maintain your composure and attempt to hit them on the break if you can.

Dundee lost to Ross County, their first loss of the season, and they are hoping to recover at Ibrox. “We need to demonstrate that we can recover from the performance at Ross County,” Cameron continued. That was a terrible performance up there. We wish to correct the situation.
