Teams are already lined up to try to sign outfielder Juan Soto this offseason. According to USA Today Sports, the New York Yankees are reportedly competing with at least four other teams for Soto’s services.
According to the report, the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies are all interested in Soto. These may not be the only clubs interested. The Yankees and their management team have been quite open about their desire to keep Soto after the 2024 season. Soto joined the organisation this summer after previously playing in San Diego.
Juan Soto is having an amazing year for the Yankees
This season, the Bronx Bombers have benefited greatly from the outfielder’s intensity. Soto has a.285 batting average, 39 home runs, and 101 RBIs this season. He’s about to surpass his total number of hits from the previous season, when he slugged for the Padres. Soto has been an excellent complement to Aaron Judge, who is on track to break a slew of Yankees single-season hitting records.
Soto’s inclusion in the lineup has jolted the Yankees. Last season, New York lost 80 games and missed the playoffs. That is intolerable to Yankees fans, and the team appears to have gotten the message. New York is leading the American League East this season, with an 86-63 record. It’s been an incredible turnaround.
There’s still a long way to go before Soto needs to consider what he’ll do next. There are still a few weeks left in the regular season for the Bronx Bombers, followed by the postseason. New York hasn’t won a World Series since 2009, and this team could be spectacular.
Juan Soto isn’t focusing on contract negotiations
Soto recently stated that he is not too distracted about forthcoming contract talks. He trusts his agent, Scott Boras, to help him make the right decision. Clearly, he’ll be able to choose from a plethora of teams willing to pay handsomely to sign him.
“The fans are excited, and they have every reason to be. He’s a fantastic player who’s done a lot for us this year, and I believe they want to see a lot more of that in the future,” Yankee Aaron Judge said of Soto, according to CBS Sports.
On Sunday, the Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox. The first pitch is slated for 1:35 Eastern.
