“£25-30 million” – Josh Sargent, Norwich City claim issued after summer window

The Canaries, who are getting used to life under Johannes Hoff Thorup, have only triumphed once in their first four games.

They achieved their first league win last weekend, as they beat Coventry City 1-0 away from home, with Borja Sainz grabbing the game’s only goal.

Before that, they had struggled, as they picked up two draws and an opening-day loss to newly-promoted Oxford United. In both draws, they dropped points from a winning position, which is something the new manager will have to improve.

Due to the departure of several important players, Norwich City and their new manager have had a difficult summer. The most famous player to leave was Gabriel Sara, who was sold to Galatasaray for an estimated £20 million.

Jonathan Rowe was also transferred to Marseille on loan after being left out of Norwich’s matchday squad against Oxford United.

Norwich will really miss Sara and Rowe this season, therefore the team needs to make every effort to manage without them. There are still some important players at Carrow Road, and there will be many who think the Canaries can yet make it to the playoffs.

They will have to keep a hold of their most important players for the duration of the season if they do have hopes of promotion, though.

Hoff Thorup strengthened the team by making wise transfers to add to the quality group he inherited. To add more attacking alternatives, players like Kaide Gordon and Ante Crnac signed late in the transfer window.

Zeke Downes, a Norwich City fan commentator for FLW, contends that a player who has been with the team for a few seasons is their most valued asset.

“Josh Sargent is without a doubt our club’s most valuable player,” he declared. He is not even close to reaching his peak; he is in excellent health. He has shown himself at this level and scores frequently. There’s also room for him to develop even further.

“Our manager’s statement that they won’t settle for anything less than £25 million, in my opinion, is really telling because that’s actually how much it would cost to acquire a player of his caliber and caliber in this league.

“Market value, maybe more like £20 million, but I think his value to us is £25-30 million.”

After Norwich was promoted to the Premier League under Daniel Farke, the USA international signed for the team in the summer of 2021 and has been one of the team’s key players ever since.

Goal scoring in his Premier League campaign was sluggish, but after they were down to the Championship, he really got going, scoring 29 goals in their final two seasons.

He has already scored twice this season, once against Sheffield United and once at home against Blackburn Rovers. He will be helpful in terms of both creativity and goal scoring as he also picked up an assist in their tie with Blackburn.

Now that Rowe and Sara are gone, Norwich is losing players who helped them score a lot of goals the previous season. Sargent needs to step up and score the large totals he is capable of scoring.
