Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has spoken of his sadness over the sale of the young forward to Hull City.
On transfer deadline day, the youthful striker completed his deal to the MKM Stadium for a sum that might increase to £4.5 million depending on a number of add-ons.
The explosive winger Kamara, who was born in London, signed a four-year contract with the Tigers that included a one-year option. Although Kamara, 21, had expressed a wish to leave the Canaries earlier in the summer, Thorup claimed he would have preferred to have collaborated with him.
Of course, even though a player thinks that another club is better for him, then we still need a transfer deal that we can accept,” stressed Thorup. “We got the deal that we wanted here towards the end.
“I still find it unfortunate that he departed because I believe he has what it takes to be a successful player and he would have been included in the squad and our previous games.
But that’s the reality. Every club and every plan has its limitations. Our players who can find enjoyment elsewhere are better equipped for this.”
Kamara played a significant role in Portsmouth’s League One championship victory the previous season. He participated in every league game and made 52 appearances overall. Kamara’s offensive production was impressive, as he helped Pompey return to the Championship for the first time since 2012 with 10 goals and 11 assists.
Before the international break, Kamara was not registered in time to play in their Yorkshire derby against Leeds United. Tim Walter will include the adaptable attacker in his lineup when the Tigers play Sheffield United on Friday of next week.
