The Canaries agreed a fee with Superliga giants Brondby for the midfielder earlier this week, with the player subsequently flying to England to complete the move.
During his pre-Sheffield United press conference, Thorup acknowledged that a deal was getting near, even though the 18-year-old hadn’t registered in time to play in the Blades match at Carrow Road.
“I think there will be another player in the building soon,” he said. “He’s a player that of course is interesting for us.
The City boss knows Schwartau’s qualities better than most, having competed against him when he was in charge of Nordsjaelland in Denmark. The attacking prospect even scored against the Tigers last year, adding to the score line in a 5-1 drubbing.
He chuckled, “I can’t remember that,” in response to a question concerning the striking rear heel. “He’s a skilled player with excellent timing in his game.
“He can read circumstances well and enter the box at the appropriate moment. His vision for scoring goals and participating offensively is good.
“He has a good physique and can cover a lot of ground.” Despite his youth, he played in the Danish league early on and has spent a number of years in a competitive atmosphere.”
