Full-back predicts exciting things after Brad Arthur’s new contract.

Full-back  believes he and the Leeds Rhinos can reach “another level” under coach Brad Arthur.
Arthur joined Rhinos on a short-term contract last month and has now agreed to a new contract that will keep him with the club through the 2025 season. The Rhinos have only won two of Arthur’s five games as coach, but Miller believes they are progressing and saw last week’s 24-6 Magic Weekend loss to the Warrington Wolves as a step in the right direction, regardless of the scoreline.

The new coach, who spent ten years in command of the NRL’s Parramatta Eels before being fired in May, succeeds fellow Australian Rohan Smith. He led the Rhinos to the 2022 Betfred Super League Grand Final, but stepped down in June following a poor performance.

Lachie Miller stated, “I liked Rohan as a coach, but Brad is a really good coach, and I believe we can see that; we are playing better football, and the fans are happier.“The players are really buying into what he has put out there.”
Miller joined the Rhinos in the off-season after only 19 NRL appearances for the Cronulla Sharks and Newcastle Knights after transitioning from rugby union sevens. He believes he is maturing as a top-flight rugby league player, but added: “I think I have so much to learn, and that’s the exciting part – I believe my game can go to the next level. He [Arthur] has previously mentioned a bit of fitness; he’s correct, but I believe my game can go further under Brad, so fingers crossed.”

Rhinos will attempt to improve on their “very good performance” against Warrington last week when Catalans Dragons travel AMT Headingley on Friday. Catalans are fifth in the table, four points ahead of the Rhinos, and a win would keep Leeds in the playoff chase.
There’s a lot of effort and we are doing a lot of things better,” Miller told me. “The previous week’s effort against Wigan was excellent, but it is meaningless unless it is followed up on.

“I thought we backed it up.” Obviously, some things did not go our way, but we put ourselves in a position to win and just did not succeed. I believe we fell short in a couple of games over the last several weeks, but we’ve improved significantly.

“We are building and must continue to do so, regardless of the conditions. We must view this as a stepping stone to, perhaps, the finals, but if not, next year.”

Miller has had a rough debut season, but he insists he has no regrets about moving to England and Leeds. “I have been loving it here,” he remarked. “I enjoy the competition over here and the boys we have. The results haven’t been in our favour, but if we’re still enjoying it as a group, it gives us something to build on, and I believe good things will follow.”
