The Dark Blues star has been the subject of intense speculation over bids from the Easter Road side as the two clubs prepare to face each other.
The Dens Park manager has heaped praise on his in-demand midfield player for handling summertime rumors about his future.
As McCowan approaches the last year of his Dundee contract, buzz during the summer transfer window has been about interest in his services.
Three bids from Hibs have reportedly been booted out alongside one from Bolton Wanderers. Champions Celtic have also been credited with interest.
As the Edinburgh club gets ready to play McCowan and his Dundee teammates in the Premiership this weekend, Hibs’ interest has not diminished.
Dundee has had an incredible start to the season, scoring goals and winning, and Docherty has stubbornly maintained his star midfield player on the team.
And this weekend, he doesn’t see any need to change that.
Docherty remarked, “It doesn’t affect my thinking.”
And Luke is totally focused after I spoke to him like I do every day.
“You can tell by his performances that he is a Dundee player who is totally dedicated to the club.
“He’s determined to add that in once more on Saturday.”
Since last week, there have been no new offers for McCowan.
And amid the gloomy blue of Dundee, the 26-year-old has kept setting an example despite all the rumors.
“Over the past few days, Luke and the boys have had some excellent training sessions,” Docherty continued.
Luke exemplifies the lads’ excellent situation by driving standards.
He is therefore so essential to everything we’re doing right now.
“So, no updates on him; we’re just getting ready for Saturday’s hard match at Easter Road.”
On September 21, Dundee will play Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal. Kickoff is at 5.30 p.m.
Live coverage of it will air on Premier Sports.
The location, though, has not yet been verified because of the current construction at Ibrox.
