Bury FC defender to depart Gigg Lane this summer

Bury captain Tom Moore is poised to leave Gigg Lane this summer, the club has confirmed.

The defender joined the Shakers from Bootle in October and was quickly given the armband after a vote by players and staff.

He was a critical member of Dave McNabb’s backline as they advanced to the play-off final, just missing out on promotion.

A statement read: “Captain Tom Moore has told the club that he intends to leave this summer.

“We wish him success in his future endeavors. Tom, you’re always welcome back at Gigg.

In better news, fan favourites Gaz Peet and Connor Comber will return to BL9 next season.

Bury’s retained list last month showed that the two were among a group of players in talks over new contracts.

The squad is taking shape for the upcoming season, with several new recruits arriving at Gigg Lane in recent days, including former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose.
