Breaking: Gills’ New Signing’s Dream Start Cut Short by Devastating Injury Setback

Gillingham loan attacker Asher Agbinone is expected to return to his parent club for injury treatment.

Agbinone made four starts for the Gills after signing on loan during the January transfer window, however he suffered a hamstring injury.
Agninone, 19, made his debut against Doncaster Rovers, playing 74 minutes before withdrawing due to a back injury.

He played the majority of the encounter against Grimsby, half a game at home against Notts County, and 52 minutes against Barrow before leaving injured.

Manager John Coleman stated on Thursday that the attacker would return to Palace for rehabilitation after suffering a “medium-term injury.”

Other hopeful news included defender Conor Masterson and midfielder Ethan Coleman returning to action after injury.

Coleman was unsure if either would be ready in time for this weekend’s match against Crewe.
Marcus Wyllie and Euan Williams are also making progress with their injuries.

“We’re getting positive news rather than negative news,” stated the Gills’ manager.

Nelson Khumbeni, a recent addition, was not included in the matchday squad for Tuesday’s encounter at Walsall, but he is healthy and available when needed, as is top scorer Jayden Clarke.

Coleman stated, “Nelson is still coming to terms with the relocation down here, which is a significant upheaval.

“We decided to take a certain path (on Tuesday). Nelson might easily have begun the game. It was unclear if he would start or not.

“He was probably eligible for selection. It was 50-50 whether he started the game, but we thought we had greater options if we went with someone off the bench. That is why he was not a substitute, but he was the closest down.

“We have a big team, so people are going to be disappointed, right?

“You might rotate your subs based on what you think you’ll need on a given day.”

“Jayden is our leading goalscorer, therefore he has not been overlooked, as some may believe.

“We have plenty of talent. Aaron Rowe is an extremely talented player, and young George Wakeling is a prime example. We can yet get something out of him.

“There are players there who may not get involved, and everyone says, ‘Oh, they’re being cast aside.'” They are not.

“They just have to keep working hard and take advantage of opportunities when they come their way. That is the same for all players.

“There are no favourites here. No one who’s nailed on to play. There’s no cast-iron certainties.

“Every shirt is up for grabs every week, and those who work the hardest will obtain it. That can be their attitude during training. That may be how they play during training. That might be how they demonstrate their fitness, or what they offer to the party. Numerous factors must be considered. You can only choose 18 players for your squad, therefore some people will be unhappy. On Tuesday, we ensured that everyone travelled.

“We want to foster a sense of unity so that even if you’re not in the 18, you’re there to support the guys, because you could need their support the next week, and that’s how it’ll go.

“That’s the only way to develop a successful football group, by convincing everyone that it’s a collective effort rather than a personal one.

“When you’re needed, you’re needed, and you give your all, and when you’re not needed, you give your all in support for the people who are playing.”
