Rangers cut ties with ‘exciting’ young talent who joins EFL promotion hopefuls

Rangers face Queen’s Park at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. Their last league game was a 4-0 victory over Ross County at home.

The January transfer window closed earlier this week, so the Gers will be locked with their present roster until the summer, should they decide to enter the free agent market. They presently sit second in the Scottish Premiership table, trailing Celtic.

Philippe Clement’s side will play Hearts away in their next league game. They then have games against St Mirren and Kilmarnock to close up February.

Rangers youngster Arian Allen leaves for Stockport County

Arian Allen, a Rangers prospect, has departed for Stockport County. The 17-year-old has joined the League One club on a permanent basis.
The teenager will join the Hatters’ Emerging Talents Programme under an 18-month contract. He is a versatile forward who can play anywhere throughout the front line.

Damien Allen, Stockport’s Academy Manager, said: “Arian is a youngster we’ve admired for a time, and we’re delighted to finally have him signed on a professional deal at the Club. He can play as a left or central forward, taking advantage of his speed and trickery to generate scoring opportunities for himself and teammates.

“He plays with a lot of confidence and determination, demonstrating his ability to score goals with a variety of finishes. Arian will continue to play for the U18s and B-teams throughout the season. We’re all really excited to see how he grows with us over the following 18 months.”

Adrian Allen leaves Rangers

Rangers signed Allen, who was 16 years old at the time, in February of last year to strengthen their Under-18s squad. He spent six years with Everton before joining Ibrox.

He rose through the Toffees’ academy ranks and became a regular at various youth levels. After signing for the Glasgow club, former Gers Academy Director Zeb Jacobs said: “It is fantastic to have Arian on board.” We are all delighted to start working with him and help him reach his full potential in the coming seasons.”

Allen did not play for the Rangers first team and has already returned to England. Stockport have advanced from the National League to the third division since Mark Stott’s takeover and are now looking for promotion to the Championship.

Following Allen’s arrival, their Head of Emerging Talent Vinil Joseph stated: “Arian is a player who has been on our radar for some time, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the football club. He is a dynamic forward capable of playing both wide and in the middle. He is a dynamic young player who will look to be positive and direct in his offensive play, and he has demonstrated his ability in front of goal with a successful youth career. We look forward to working with Arian and watching him grow in the coming years.”
