BRADFORD City have signed Blackburn Rovers’ custodian, who formerly served as backup to number one Sam Walker.
He has signed an 18-month contract with an option for an additional year.
Joe Hilton joins City after defender Romoney Crichlow, and he is the club’s sixth signing of the window, following Georgie Lapslie, Tommy Leigh, Brandon Khela, and Michael Mellon.
Hilton, 25, had fallen down the pecking order at Ewood Park and had not made a first-team appearance this season. He was out of contract in the summer.
The academy product has only played once for Blackburn in his career, with the majority of his appearances coming on loan.
The goalkeeper appeared in 23 games for Scottish team Hamilton and has also played for Fleetwood on loan.
Hilton started his career with Everton.
City manager Graham Alexander said: “We are delighted to add Joe to our goalkeeping options.
“He is a young player with great potential and a profile that fits perfectly with our other keepers.”
