According to Football League World, Bolton Wanderers are nearing an agreement to hire Steven Schumacher as their new manager.
Bolton Wanderers had a bad start to the season under Ian Evatt, but they have battled their way back into the play-offs in the last month or so. BWFC are currently in seventh place, tied on points with Leyton Orient in sixth.
However, after missing out on promotion through the play-offs last season, the Trotters were anticipated to perform better this season. As a result, it is hardly surprising that Ian Evatt was fired earlier this month.
They have won their previous two games under Julian Darby’s interim management, but his tenure appears to be coming to end.
According to Football League World, Bolton Wanderers are close to reaching an agreement with Steven Schumacher. The 40-year-old has been out of employment since September, when he was fired by Stoke City.
The Potters fired Schumacher severely, and the club’s performance has not improved since. Stoke have already fired Narcis Pelach, Schumacher’s replacement at Bet365.
Top appointment from Wanderers
Schumacher is an exceptional young coach who will be tipped for success at Bolton Wanderers. While he is still in the early phases of his management career, he has performed admirably in his brief tenure as a boss.
The previous time he coached in League One, he led Plymouth Argyle to a 100-point season and the league title. He maintained his form in the Championship, lifting Argyle out of the relegation zone before joining Stoke City.
He was once again doing an excellent job at Stoke, something that many well-known coaches have struggled to do in recent years. However, if he can reproduce his Plymouth success with BWFC, they will be extremely pleased with his appointment.
What next for BWFC?
It remains to be seen when and if Schumacher takes over at Bolton Wanderers. The travel to Reading, however, will undoubtedly be a hardship.
Reading are a direct adversary of the Trotters for the play-off positions, and a win would bring them level with the Wanderers.
With a win, BWFC can cut the deficit to fourth place to only one point. If others make mistakes and gain momentum, Bolton may begin to scent blood.
