Former Alabama Football Player Lands First Coaching Job: Roll Call, Jan. 25, 2025

Emil Ekiyor Jr., a former Alabama offensive line star, was named quality control assistant for Georgia Tech’s offensive line on Friday.

Ekiyor will report to Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key, who formerly served as the Crimson Tide’s offensive line coach from 2016 to 2018. Key’s senior year at Tuscaloosa coincided with Ekiyor’s freshman year.

During his five years at Alabama, Ekiyor appeared in 53 games, 40 of which he started at guard. He started three years and was chosen to the All-SEC First Team as a senior in 2022. In 2023, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he was waived by Indianapolis a few months after signing.

After leaving the Colts, Ekiyor worked as a life and health insurance agent. He was also very active in the community, founding The Chase, an organisation that empowers youth and young professionals in the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa through coaching and mentoring programs focused on success mindset, positive habit formation, and financial literacy.
