John Coleman has strengthened his attacking options by signing Jimmy-Jay Morgan on loan from Premier League club Chelsea.
The 19-year-old joins the Gills on loan until the end of the season and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s encounter at Tranmere.
The striker came up through Chelsea’s junior systems before joining Southampton at the age of 11, where he scored 27 goals for the U16s and 13 for the U18s before making his first-team debut in an EFL Trophy match against Forest Green in August 2022.
He appeared twice more for the Saints in the same competition before returning to Stamford Bridge in February 2023 for an undisclosed fee. He scored for the Blues, with first senior goal, against MK Dons in a Vertu trophy tie at Stadium MK.
He appeared three more games in the tournament for Chelsea last year, beginning in the game against Cambridge at Abbey Stadium. The striker has also competed internationally, representing England at the U16, U17, and U18 levels.
This season, he has six goals in ten Premier League 2 games for Chelsea.
Jimmy’s first loan stay away from the Premier League will be with Gillingham, and he might feature this weekend.
