Wrexham can’t afford to stand still in transfer window says Waynne Phillips

In 2024, the Reds had another good year, winning their second promotion in a row and rapidly emerging as League One’s frontrunners.

Third-placed Wrexham are five points behind leaders Birmingham City, who travel to North Wales for tomorrow night’s top-of-the-table showdown, and three points behind second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.

Other sides are vying for a top-two finish, and former Reds midfielder Phillips predicts Parkinson will look for new players to add even more talent to the squad and boost his side’s promotion push.

“I am sure there will be a few more faces before the transfer window closes,” added Phillips, who previously covered Wrexham as a BBC Radio Wales analyst.

“They have done well in the last six transfer windows. They’ve always brought in better than they had.

“Some of the players aren’t finding their form and maybe it is going to take others coming in to find that form to get us over the line.”

Huddersfield, who are only three points behind Wrexham in fourth place, have been spending money since the transfer window started, with the Terriers rumoured to have paid more over £3 million for striker Joe Taylor from Luton Town.

“You’ve already seen that with Huddersfield. “They’ve gone and spent millions,” Phillips continued.

“I don’t think we are in that league just yet but I am sure there will be one or two signings.”
