“Dream has come true” – Player gets what he wants after Leeds United exit gamble

Elia Caprile believes he has arrived at his desired destination following a tumultuous few years and some difficult decisions for the custodian.

In 2020, he made the painful decision to leave Chievo and Italian football for Leeds United and a chance at success in England. He never quite broke through at Elland Road, but Marcelo Bielsa saw something in him and promoted him to the first team on several occasions.

After 18 months at Leeds United, Caprile decided to take a chance and return to Italy, this time with Serie C team Pro Patria. That went well for him, and a year later he was in Bari, before signing for heavyweights Napoli and being loaned to Empoli.

He performed admirably for the Tuscany club but was unable to emerge as the number one when given the opportunity at Naples. He’s now on loan at Cagliari and is a fully fledged Serie A custodian at the age of 23.
Those moves, particularly the gamble to join with and then quit Leeds United, have paid off for him.

According to Corriere dello Sport, he discussed his time at Leeds United: “Three years ago I played in C in front of a hundred people; on Saturday at San Siro, there were seventy thousand: my childhood dream has come true.” We started well, and that is what mattered.

“Napoli? I describe a fantastic team, city, and environment. But I suffered, trained hard, and wanted to play more. The club gave the go-ahead, and Cagliari reached an agreement on a decision based on my needs. Quick and painless. With a clear goal in mind: to do my best. “As I did with Chievo, Pro Patria, Leeds, Empoli, and Napoli.”
