Breaking: Atlanta Turns to Alternative Striker as Kyogo Deal Hits Roadblock

Atlanta’s interest in Kyogo appears to have waned, with the MLS team moving on to other possibilities.
The MLS club has reportedly launched a £18 million proposal for the forward, with negotiations understood to be advanced.
Atlanta has been connected with Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi in recent weeks, but a transfer for the Japanese international looks increasingly doubtful. Celtic are determined to keep their top player despite a critical run of fixtures, including vital Champions League games later this month.

Celtic received no formal approach for the striker.

The MLS club is also interested in Crystal Palace forward Odsonne Edouard, a former Celtic favourite. However, their priorities appear to have moved to striking a deal for Latte Lath.

While Atlanta’s interest in Kyogo was widely reported, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out a January departure for the striker. Rodgers underlined Kyogo’s importance to the squad, especially with the league season underway and Champions League dreams alive.

The striker still has a significant role to play for the Hoops, and with a key match against Young Boys on Tuesday, it would not be shocking if he is the difference maker.
