Leeds Rhinos Make Strategic Moves Ahead of 2026 with Key Players in Final Year

Leeds Rhinos are negotiating with players in their final year of contracts while also keeping a careful eye on the transfer market, according to sporting director Ian Blease .

Seven of the 26 players wearing Rhinos squad numbers this season will be out of contract at the end of the season. The Rhinos’ first-13 includes scrum-half Matt Frawley, prop Mikolaj Oledzki, and second-rowers James Bentley and James McDonnell.

The others are prop Tom Holroyd, back-rower Morgan Gannon, and front-rower Sam Lisone. Ryan Hall, a winger, returned to Leeds during the offseason on a one-year contract with an option for 2026.

All have been free to speak with other teams from December 1, five months sooner than before, according to a modification in RFL laws. That, of course, means Rhinos can speak with players in comparable situations at other clubs.
