Accrington Stanley have signed striker from Morecambe on a two-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the Wham Stadium until the summer of 2027.
The 25-year-old attacker from Ipswich scored 53 goals for Chelsea’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides. Brown’s career has brought him on loan to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, followed by permanent spells with Milton Keynes Dons, Cheltenham, and, most recently, Morecambe.
Charlie Brown scored five goals and provided three assists for Morecambe in the 2023/24 Sky Bet League Two season.
Accrington Stanley manager John Doolan expressed his pleasure at the deal, saying, “I can’t wait to work with him.” It has been going on for a while. “Ged [Brannan] knows Charlie from his Morecambe days, and we played against him earlier this season.”His experience, the quality he has, the games he has played, the goals he has scored—it’s a no-brainer, and it’s excellent business. He is not limited to a single duty; he may be used in a variety of roles, which was important to us. We can’t wait to get started with him.
Brown shared his enthusiasm and expressed gratitude for the chance. “I am really grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get going, show the fans what I can do, score some goals, get some assists, and help the team,” the forward added.
“I know some of the other lads, and I know Ged, so I’m hoping to strike the ground running. I can play wherever and attack across the front. Last season, I played on the right side and up front, although playing up front in a two-man game is one of my best positions. I prefer playing at the top end of the pitch and near the goal.”
