Blockbuster Trade Shakes Up Yankees Roster: Community Poll

The Yankees and Cubs have been staring into one other’s eyes for nearly a week, like a pair of uncomfortable teenagers who plainly adore each other but are too afraid to express it. They are trying to work out a deal to bring 2017 NL Rookie of the Year and 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger to New York. The reports had been going on for so long that we were starting to wonder if the Yankees were looking for another date to the figurative prom, with the team linked to a slew of free agent first baseman.

The Yankees and Cubs finally said “yes” to a deal that brought Cody Bellinger to the Bronx in return for (checks notes) Cody.

The overall sentiment in the comments section was… not exactly elation, but excitement that the team made the greatest decision possible to add an outfielder when both Juan Soto and Kyle Tucker were off the board.

Yes, Bellinger isn’t the superstar he was originally expected to be, but he’s a step above the other choices on the club right now — and he also provides more positional flexibility!
Of course, it is difficult to criticise when the price is literally Cody Poteet.
As is customary in the PSA comments section, other topics arose. We have arguments over when the Martian will be ready to handle left field following his daring tries in 2024 (side note: given that he’ll likely be playing there from the start of spring training, he’ll seem a lot more comfortable than he did learning on the job in August and September).

We had debates regarding whether or not the squad should pursue Alex Bregman. We’ve got the pessimists saying the team will be terrible, the optimists saying the pitching staff will lead them to 95 wins, and everything in between.

So, what do you have to offer to the discussion? Please vote in our poll and share your thoughts on the agreement in the comments section below.
