LEWIS Cook anticipates a difficult tactical challenge against former Cherries manager Gary O’Neil’s Wolverhampton Wanderers.
AFC Bournemouth head to the West Midlands on Saturday, hoping to upset Wolves and return to winning ways after defeats to Brentford and Brighton.
Cook told the Daily Echo before of the match against his former manager, “I think obviously they’ve got quite a clear way of playing in and out of possession, and obviously we’ve been in and around it.”
“So tactically it’s going to be a tough game.”We’re going to have to adapt. But, as I’ve stated in numerous occasions, every Premier League game is difficult, and you must perform at your peak to win.”
Adam Smith, a Cherries teammate, said the last two games have been frustrating, but it’s crucial to forget about them and focus on the future.
“We didn’t perform badly, but it wasn’t our best performances,” the coach stated. “So, it’s difficult to recover from a setback, especially two in a row, but that’s part of the Premier League.
“We’re used to it now, so we’ve worked hard this week and need to keep doing so to properly prepare. And hopefully we can get a win this weekend since it will be another tough game.”
The journey to Wolves kicks off the busy festive season, with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur next Thursday, the first of six games in December.
Cook emphasised the importance of getting the hectic season off to a strong start, saying, “I believe that having a fantastic Christmas season really gets your momentum going.
“It’s tough, though, lots of games in a short space of time, but we’re going to need the whole squad, we’re going to have everyone ready to be able to affect games when called upon.”
