“An expensive mess” | West Ham must sack Lopetegui to prevent disaster

Another month brings another international break, providing an excellent time to evaluate on how a club has progressed since the last one. Unfortunately for West Ham, the answer is not so good.
Aside from a surprising victory over Manchester United, West Ham has not won a game in that time, and their performances have been dismal.

Unsurprisingly, pressure is building on Julen Lopetegui, but it appears like his job may be safe for the time being.

However, Football365 believes that not removing the Spaniard would be a death wish. According to them, this “is remarkably damning for Julen Lopetegui, who does not even have the benefit of a clear idea, principles or philosophy.”

“West Ham are basically a costly mishmash of random players experimenting with no clear relationship. What they are attempting to accomplish remains unknown. They have no identity. They’re a tactical abyss.

“The decision to part with Moyes was right,” they said; “it was time for that marriage of convenience to end and for both parties to go their separate ways towards happier things.”

“Keeping Lopetegui for much longer would feel like doubling-down to turn a lamentable mistake into a critical, season-ruining error.”
