This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features unique perspectives from our FLW Fan Pundits on the most recent breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more…

Johnny Hunt, FLW’s Reading FC fan commentator, outlines the essential aspect that could decide Tyler Bindon’s future – and predicts how much he’s worth.

He signed a two-year contract last summer and has quickly established himself as a major player at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Tom Holmes and Tom McIntyre began the season as the Royals’ centre-back partnership, but Ruben Selles swiftly switched to Nelson Abbey and Tyler Bindon, who both shone.

Bindon spent a brief period of the season at right-back, but it was evident that position did not suit him, thus he returned to a central position.

The 19-year-old has steadily improved during the season and is expected to compete for Berkshire’s Player of the Season title.

The club’s ownership position remains uncertain, and a takeover has yet to be approved by the EFL, therefore some of the Royals’ important first-team players could be released or sold during the summer window.

Bindon is one player who might be moved, and FLW’s Reading fan commentator Johnny Hunt reckons the Royals could get £5 million for him.

He stated, “Yeah, Tyler Bindon has been fantastic. I don’t think anyone expected him to be this amazing.

“I believe a lot relies on what happens with ownership, how fast that is sorted, and how quickly we can ideally tie down players to contracts and utilize this season as a positive to move forward with a good squad that can clearly fight at the high end of this league.

“But money talks; who knows what players are worth these days? It’s really hard. I’d say at least £150 million for a player his age, ability, and maturity level!

“I’d probably go for £5 million in today’s market because he has the ability, and I wouldn’t want to sell him.”

“We’ll see what happens, but he’s absolutely brilliant, unreal, so calm under pressure.”

Arsenal, who were previously rumored to be interested in the teenager, would almost certainly be able to afford £5 million.

Tyler Bindon’s performances highlight some of Reading FC’s brilliant summer recruitment

Bindon was just one of several excellent summer arrivals.

Considering he is only 19, the New Zealand international has demonstrated remarkable maturity and calmness.

He demands a steady centre-back partner, which he hasn’t always had, after lately forming a solid partnership with Amadou Mbengue.

He started alongside Nelson Abbey on occasion, and Bindon has performed admirably in most games despite not always having a consistent position or centre-back partner.

If the ownership situation is resolved, he may be an excellent addition to the squad, alongside fellow summer signings Harvey Knibbs, Ben Elliott, and Sam Smith. Mark Bowen deserves a lot of credit for bringing in such talented guys.
