Liverpool News: Jurgen Klopp on Diogo Jota return, Athur eligibilite, Herderson injury and squad fitness

Liverpool are awaiting further diagnosis of Jordan Henderson’s hamstring injury, which ruled out the captain from Saturday’s Merseyside derby, but Diogo Jota is on the verge of returning.

Henderson had to quit his job during the second half of his midweek win over Newcastle United at Anfield.

Asked for an update on the skipper’s condition during the pre-Everton press conference on Friday, the manager said: “Still nothing. Honestly we are still waiting for the result. It was only about 12.30 now; I asked before arriving here is arrived and [we] haven’t gotten any results yet. “He’s definitely out, he’s injured, but I don’t know to what extent.”

Jota will likely be available for Saturday’s trip to Goodison Park, while Klopp will call the Portuguese forward after a long period on the sidelines.

“Diogo will probably be there too, yesterday he trained for the first time with the team. He will train today, “said the boss.

“I have to make a decision, does it make sense that we already involve him or not? But if it’s the first time we have five strikers, it feels like Christmas! ”

The Reds expanded their midfield ranks with the purchase of Arthur Melo from Juventus, and that deal was finalized on the day of the transfer deadline. Klopp has explained that the new No.29 is unlikely to be eligible to play ahead of next week’s Champions League clash against Napoli.

“My information is that the international clearance won’t be given until tomorrow. We all hope he is well for Napoli,” he said.

Klopp has also provided final deadlines for Liverpool’s other injury-related absences, including Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calvin Ramsay, Thiago Alcantara and Ibrahima Konate.

“It’s a muscle injury [for Keita],” he said. “For him a muscle injury, Ox is a muscle injury and they will be out for a while. Hendo, we don’t know yet.

“Calvin Ramsay is still out, but he’s getting really close. For him it was something with the back, something with age and growth and things like that. He hasn’t trained well with us now, but he’s getting closer. “Thiago is the closest of all [of them]. I think he will be in team training early in the week, next week. Ibou, in and around the international break, is back to training “.
