3 key players out for QPR against Leeds in the Championship due to injury.

QPR are anticipated to be without three long-term absentees for their Championship match against Leeds United at Loftus Road on Friday (8pm). Michael Frey, Taylor Richards, and Rayan Kolli among the players still on the mend as Marti Cifuentes prepares a strategy to defeat QPR’s promotion-chasing opponents.

Richards, who formerly played for Manchester City and Brighton, has played only 144 minutes this season due to a few setbacks. His most recent ailment was a calf problem, and the 23-year-old has not made a first-team matchday squad since December 13, which was a goalless draw against Plymouth Argyle.

Meanwhile, Frey, who joined QPR in January, made nine games before suffering an injury this month. The 29-year-old former Schalke and Royal Antwerp forward has missed the club’s last four games.

Kolli, an academy graduate, is also focusing on getting back in shape. The 19-year-old and Frey could return before QPR’s season-ending encounter against Coventry City on Saturday, May 4, but the Leeds game is expected to come too soon for both.

Speaking to QPR media prior of the game against Leeds, defender Jake Clarke-Salter said: “Saturday [against Preston] was a huge win for us. It’s been a challenging season, but since the manager [Cifuentes] took over, we’ve demonstrated great solidarity and camaraderie.

“We have two big games coming up and cannot afford to take anything for granted. We must show attention.”

QPR, who are in danger of relegation, are four points above the drop zone with two games remaining. They overcame a four-game winless streak by defeating Preston North End last time out, with Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town, and rock-bottom Rotherham United sharing the bottom three spots.
