25-year-old says goodbye to his club ahead of Leicester City return

Boubakary Soumare, a Leicester City midfielder, has been on loan with Sevilla in La Liga this season, and the Spanish club wants to keep him.

The Foxes were promoted back to the Premier League last week, and Sevilla’s chances of keeping Boubakary Soumare beyond his loan stay are now jeopardized by Leicester City’s return to the top tier.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the Foxes’ elevation complicated Sevilla’s intentions, since the club has been eager to capture the midfielder’s services permanently. However, Leicester now has a strong negotiating position and could potentially add Soumare to their team for the following season.

Boubakary Soumare wants to play for Leicester City next season

The Frenchman allegedly prefers this option, as his contract with Leicester City runs until 2026. With Enzo Maresca’s plans to launch a Premier League project next season, Leicester are unlikely to entertain offers for the midfielder during the next transfer window.

Sevilla have had a dismal season in La Liga, ranking 12th with 38 points as of writing. While on loan from Leicester, the player has made 24 league appearances.

If the current transfer reports about Wilfried Ndidi and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s prospective exit in the upcoming transfer window are true, the Foxes will most likely rely on Soumare next season.
