On the first day of practice following the bye week, the Dallas Cowboys cut linebacker Mikel Jones and offensive tackle Alex Taylor-Prioleau from the practice squad.

After failing to make the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp in August of 2022, Taylor-Prioleau was signed off of Cleveland’s practice squad in November 2022 and then back onto Dallas’ practice squad. Jones leaves Dallas after just 19 days after being added to the practice squad on October 4.

Going into week seven, Dallas will have four open places on the practice squad thanks to the moves. It is anticipated that some or all of the openings will fill quickly.

In his second training camp, Jalen Tolbert created a stir with his strength for the offense, but he’s already showing himself to be much more.

The former third-round selection is making strides toward becoming a special teams ace as the season progresses.

Wide receivers coach Robert Prince is impressed with what he’s seeing from Tolbert on both sides, even though he was hurt by a debatable punt return blunder in Los Angeles that the Cowboys aren’t criticizing. Tolbert has already made some crucial tackles in the return game.

Prince remarked, “He looks forward to the challenge.” “He enjoys playing on special teams and being outside. He’s eager to get out there and make a tackle whenever he gets the chance.

The Cowboys take the field against the Chargers in Week 6 with a different look, making fifth-round pick Deuce Vaughn a healthy scratch for the first time this season.

Vaughn is inactive for Los Angeles and will be replaced by linebacker Malik Davis, who was selected from the practice squad on Monday.

Others inactive are Noah Igbinoghene, Eric Scott, Asim Richards, Juanyeh Thomas, Junior Fehoko and Trey Lance. Lance is the emergency defender in this contest.

Thomas will be sidelined with an injury that has kept him out of practice all week.
