12 players Liverpool could buy as replacement for Bellingham as Jurgen Klopp rebuilds the Reds midfield

Liverpool will most likely be without Jude Bellingham, but if a midfield upgrade is needed, there are plenty of alternatives that Jurgen Klopp could be interested in.
The news that Liverpool are missing out on an opportunity to sign Jude Bellingham has sent shockwaves through the quarter. Having decided to pursue other targets, Liverpool’s recruitment managers should now focus on recruiting alternatives to help rebuild the Reds’ ailing midfielder.
With four of their current first-team midfielders (James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo) set to leave this summer, Liverpool will undoubtedly need new signings in mid-season. Park. Sure, Bellingham has been touted as the Reds’ top target for months, but the failed pursuit of Aurelian Chemeni last summer should serve as a warning about the dangers of not developing the right alternative.
Last summer, the Reds had to make a U-turn to expand their midfield options after deciding not to sign the midfielder following Tchouameni’s objections to the aforementioned Arthur on loan from Juventus. Fast forward to now and Melo is barely playing. Liverpool are now eighth in the Premier League with nine games to go and had the chance to qualify for the Champions League but lost.
It basically tells you everything you need to know about the efficiency of the Reds’ transfer business last summer. Liverpool must make no mistakes in the next transfer window.
Without further ado, here are some alternatives to Bellingham from Liverpool. Each has an information file and a suitability assessment.
Nicolo Barella – International
There is a strong case for Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella to be the most talented player on this list. The goal has linked the 26-year-old with a move to Liverpool and given his success with both club and national team, it would be a real pedigree. 9/10
Mason Mount Chelsea
Chelsea’s Mason Mount makes a lot of sense for Liverpool this summer due to his ability, stature and potential availability. The England star is in the limelight at Anfield and could be a smart buy. 8/10.
Conor Gallagher-Chelsea
Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher impressed last season on loan at Crystal Palace but has failed to make a regular appearance at Stamford Bridge this season. The English star will likely suit Liverpool’s style well, but there could be more talented players here. 6/10.
Alexis McAllister – Brighton and Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis McAllister has enjoyed the last 12 months after a strong season in the Premier League and a World Cup win in Qatar in December. The Argentinian, quoted by The Telegraph, would be an intriguing signing and is likely to move to an elite club. 7/10.
Ryan Gravenberch – Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberger has long been regarded as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Europe. According to The Telegraph , the 20-year-old has struggled to break into the Allianz first team since joining Ajax last summer and could revive his career with a move to Liverpool. 6/10.
Joao Falginha – Fulham
Fulham’s João Falginha, 27, has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League this season since joining from Sporting Lisbon last summer. The Daily Mail have linked him with a move to Liverpool, but the question is whether he is the versatile option the Reds desperately need. 6.5/10.
Tyn Kupminers – Atlanta
Atalanta’s Tin Koopminus is one of the best midfielders in Serie A this season and has been mentioned by Goal.com as a potential target for Liverpool. The Dutchman deserves the plaudits he has received this season, but his defense could be a cause for concern for the Reds. 6.5/10.
Enzo Le Pi – FC Lorient
TEAMtalk have linked Liverpool with FC Lorient’s Enzo Le Fe in recent months and the French star has impressed in Ligue 1 this season. The 23-year-old has been compared stylistically to Jude Bellingham and could be a cheap option for the Reds. 6/10.
Moises Caicedo – Brighton and Hove Albion
Moises Caicedo has been very impressive for Brighton so far this season and could attract a lot of attention this summer as Arsenal failed to sign him in January. According to The Telegraph , the 21-year-old has resembled Jude Bellingham in style this season and is a strong contender as an alternative. 8/10.
Florian Wirz – Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is probably the second best young talent in the Bundesliga after Jude Bellingham. The 19-year-old has been tipped by Fabrizio Romano about a move to Liverpool and the Reds should consider signing the wonderkid if they can. 7.5/10.
Matthew Nunes – Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolverhampton’s Matheus Nunes has been touted as a potential target for Liverpool since his days at Sporting Lisbon and it is no surprise that he will land at Anfield. According to The Telegraph , the Portuguese midfielder has had a decent, if not impressive, first season in the Premier League, but the Reds are keeping an eye on him. 6.5/10.
Luka Suchic – Red Bull Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg’s Luka Sucic is another player previously linked with Liverpool, so according to Goal the new link with him should come as no surprise. Horvat has recently been compared to compatriot Luka Modric and appears to have a bright future at 20, but he may not yet be at the level of the other players on this list. 5.5/10.
